Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about crypto security, our services, and how we help Southwest Florida residents protect their digital wealth.

🚀 Getting Started
Do I need any tech experience to work with you? +

None at all. If you can use a smartphone, you're ready to work with us. We sit down with you — in your home, our office, or virtually — and handle every single step together at your pace. We've helped complete beginners set up a full, secure crypto system from scratch. No jargon, no confusion, no going it alone.

I've never bought crypto before. Can you still help me? +

Absolutely. Many of our clients start from zero. We don't just help people who already have crypto — we help people get set up correctly from day one, so they never have to undo bad habits or recover from early mistakes. Starting right is the best thing you can do.

What happens on the free 15-minute call? +

It's a no-pressure conversation. We'll ask about your current crypto situation, what you're hoping to protect or set up, and which package makes the most sense for you. There's no sales pitch — just honest guidance. You're free to book a session or walk away with no obligation whatsoever.

Where are you located and who do you serve? +

We're based in Downtown Fort Myers, Florida, and serve clients throughout Southwest Florida — Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Marco Island, and surrounding areas. We also offer virtual sessions for clients anywhere in the country.

Can you come to my home? +

Yes! Our in-home concierge service is one of our most popular options — especially for clients who are less comfortable with technology or simply prefer the comfort of their own space. We come to you, set everything up, and don't leave until it's done right. A flat $150 travel fee applies to all in-home visits within Southwest Florida.

🔐 Crypto Security Basics
Is crypto actually safe to own? +

Crypto itself is secured by blockchain technology — one of the most tamper-proof systems ever built. The risk doesn't come from the technology. It comes from how people store and manage their crypto. Leaving funds on an exchange, using a weak password, or not backing up a seed phrase — those are the real dangers. That's exactly what we fix.

What is a hardware wallet and do I really need one? +

A hardware wallet is a physical device — about the size of a USB drive — that stores your crypto completely offline, disconnected from the internet. If you hold any meaningful amount of crypto, yes, you need one. Exchanges can be hacked. Online accounts can be compromised. A hardware wallet ensures your assets are safe even if every online account you own is breached. We set yours up correctly as part of every package.

What is a seed phrase and why does it matter so much? +

A seed phrase is a set of 12 to 24 words that is the master key to your entire crypto wallet. Anyone who has your seed phrase has complete, permanent access to all your funds. Losing it means losing your crypto — forever, with no recovery option. Storing it correctly is the single most important thing a crypto holder can do. Your Master Key Binder solves this with a secure, documented storage system we build together.

What's the difference between storing crypto on an exchange vs. a personal wallet? +

When your crypto is on an exchange like Coinbase, you don't actually own the private keys — the exchange does. If the exchange is hacked, goes bankrupt, or freezes your account, your funds could be at risk. A personal hardware wallet gives you true ownership. You hold the keys. No company can freeze or take your assets. We help you understand both and set up the right structure for your situation.

What are the most common ways people lose their crypto? +

The most common causes of crypto loss we see:

  • Lost or improperly stored seed phrases
  • Phishing scams — fake emails or websites stealing login credentials
  • Romance and investment scams (pig butchering)
  • Sending crypto to the wrong address
  • Exchange hacks or collapses
  • Forgetting passwords or losing access to accounts
  • Family members unable to access funds after a loved one passes

Every one of these is preventable with the right setup — which is what we provide.

Can crypto transactions be reversed if I send to the wrong address? +

No. Blockchain transactions are permanent and irreversible. Once you send crypto, it cannot be recalled. This is why our Golden Transfer Protocol is so important — it gives you a clear, step-by-step checklist for every transfer scenario so you never make a costly mistake. It's included with every Master Key Binder.

🚨 Scams & Fraud Prevention
How do I know if something is a crypto scam? +

The biggest red flags to watch for:

  • Anyone promising guaranteed returns or "can't miss" investment opportunities
  • Someone you met online or on social media asking you to send crypto
  • Unsolicited messages claiming your account is at risk and asking you to act immediately
  • Requests to move your crypto to a "safer" wallet they provide
  • Anyone asking for your seed phrase, password, or private keys — ever
  • Fake customer support from exchanges or wallets contacting you first

If it feels urgent, too good to be true, or someone is pressuring you — stop and call us first.

What is a pig butchering scam? +

Pig butchering is one of the most devastating crypto scams operating today. A scammer — often posing as a romantic interest, old friend, or successful investor — builds trust over weeks or months before introducing a fake crypto investment platform. Victims are encouraged to deposit funds and shown fake profits to get them to invest more. When they try to withdraw, the platform disappears along with all their money. Florida residents have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars to this scam. Our scam prevention training covers how to recognize and avoid it.

Someone contacted me saying my crypto account is at risk. What do I do? +

Do not click any links or call any numbers they provide. This is almost certainly a phishing attempt. Legitimate exchanges and wallet providers will never contact you unsolicited to tell you your account is at risk. Go directly to the official website by typing the URL yourself, log in there, and check your account status. If you're unsure, call us at 1-239-990-1615 before doing anything.

Can I get my money back if I was scammed? +

Unfortunately, in most cases, no. Crypto transactions are irreversible. There are legitimate organizations that assist scam victims — including the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and some state attorney general offices — but recovery is rare and never guaranteed. The best protection is prevention, which is why scam education is a core part of everything we do. If you believe you've been scammed, report it to the FBI at ic3.gov immediately.

📗 The Master Key Binder
What exactly is the Master Key Binder? +

The Master Key Binder is our signature physical crypto security system — included with every package. It's a professionally organized binder that documents everything critical about your crypto setup in one secure place: your seed phrase storage system, crypto email documentation, hardware wallet records, emergency recovery steps, scam prevention protocols, and the Golden Transfer Protocol. It's designed so that even if every device you own is lost or compromised, you — and your family — have everything needed to access and manage your assets.

What is the Golden Transfer Protocol? +

The Golden Transfer Protocol is your personal step-by-step guide for safely moving crypto in any scenario — sending to an exchange, sending to a friend or family member, or moving to your own private wallet. Sending to the wrong address is permanent and unrecoverable. The Golden Transfer Protocol gives you a clear checklist to follow every single time, eliminating one of the most common and costly crypto mistakes.

Is the Master Key Binder secure? What if someone finds it? +

Great question — and one we take seriously. We guide you through how to store your binder safely, including what information to include, what to keep separate, and physical storage best practices. The binder is designed to be useful in an emergency without being a single point of failure. We also discuss options like a home safe, safety deposit box, and trusted family member access as part of our session.

  • Asset Essentials — $549: Everything in Entry Vault plus 2nd exchange, crypto debit card, tax tracking, scam prevention training, emergency protocol coaching

What's the difference between Asset Essentials and Complete Guardian? +

Asset Essentials gives you a comprehensive personal crypto security setup — two exchanges, debit card, tax tracking app, scam prevention training, and emergency protocol coaching. It's our most popular package for someone who wants to be fully set up and protected. Complete Guardian adds full legacy and heir access planning, estate-level documentation for your digital assets, and a family education session — ensuring your wealth is protected not just for you, but for the people you leave behind.

What is included in the crypto tax app setup? +

We help you connect your exchange accounts to a tax tracking tool so every transaction is automatically recorded. This means no scrambling at tax time, no missed reporting, and a clear picture of your gains and losses throughout the year. This is included in Asset Essentials and Complete Guardian.

What is the crypto debit card setup? +

A crypto debit card lets you spend your crypto holdings in the real world — at restaurants, stores, online — just like a regular debit card. We walk you through choosing the right card, linking it to your exchange, and using it safely without exposing your main holdings to unnecessary risk. Available with Asset Essentials and Complete Guardian.

Do you offer ongoing support after our session? +

Our packages are one-time setup sessions, but we're always reachable by phone or email if you have follow-up questions. If your needs grow significantly — new wallets, additional exchanges, family members needing setup — we're happy to book additional sessions. Think of us as your long-term crypto security partner, not just a one-time service.

🏛️ Legacy & Family Planning
What happens to my crypto if I pass away or become incapacitated? +

Without proper planning, your crypto is gone — permanently. Unlike a bank account, there's no institution to call, no account recovery process, and no legal mechanism to access funds without the private keys. Over $300 billion in crypto has been permanently lost because of this. Our Complete Guardian package documents everything your family would need — step by step — so your digital wealth is never lost no matter what life brings.

Can my family access my crypto if something happens to me? +

Only if you've planned ahead. Your Master Key Binder includes foundational documentation for your family. Complete Guardian goes much further — with full heir access planning, estate documentation, and a family education session so your loved ones understand exactly what to do and how to do it safely. This is one of the most important gifts you can give your family.

Does my will cover my cryptocurrency? +

A will can name crypto assets as part of your estate, but a will alone doesn't solve the access problem. Your heirs still need the private keys, seed phrases, and account credentials to actually retrieve the funds. Without that information, even a clear legal directive is useless. Our legacy planning bridges that gap — creating a documented, secure system your heirs can follow. We always recommend working with a qualified estate attorney alongside our service for full legal protection.

⚖️ Trust, Legitimacy & Hard Questions
Are you a financial advisor? Will you tell me what to buy? +

No, and we're proud of that distinction. Florida Crypto Edu is strictly an educational and security service. We never give investment advice, never tell you what crypto to buy or sell, and never have a financial interest in your decisions. Our entire focus is protecting what you already have — or helping you get set up safely from the start. We are not licensed financial advisors.

How do I know I can trust you with sensitive information? +

This is one of the most important questions you can ask — and we respect you for asking it. A few things to know: we never store or take copies of your seed phrases, passwords, or private keys. We don't need them and we don't want them. Our entire model is teaching you to own and control your own security. We are a local Southwest Florida business — you know where to find us. We also encourage you to do your own research, check our reviews, and meet us on a free call before making any decision.

Is crypto legal? Will I get in trouble with the IRS? +

Cryptocurrency is completely legal in the United States. The IRS treats crypto as property, meaning buying, selling, and trading can trigger taxable events. Failing to report crypto gains is illegal — not the crypto itself. Our tax tracking app setup (included in Asset Essentials and Complete Guardian) helps you stay organized and compliant. For specific tax advice, always consult a licensed CPA or tax professional.

What if crypto crashes? Is my setup still worth anything? +

Absolutely. What we build with you has nothing to do with price. Whether Bitcoin is at $100,000 or $10,000, your security setup protects whatever you have. Proper storage, scam prevention, legacy planning, and the Golden Transfer Protocol are valuable regardless of market conditions. The goal is making sure that whatever you own — you actually keep it.

I already have crypto set up. Do I really need your help? +

Maybe. The honest answer is: it depends on how it's set up. Most people who come to us thinking they're already secure discover at least one significant vulnerability — seed phrases stored on a phone, no hardware wallet, no documentation, no emergency plan. A free 15-minute call is the best way to find out. We'll give you an honest assessment with no pressure to buy anything.

What if I only have a small amount of crypto? Is it still worth it? +

That's a fair question. Our honest answer: if you have less than a few hundred dollars in crypto and don't plan to add more, a full setup session might be more than you need right now. Start with our free Crypto Playbook and the free strategy call. If you're planning to grow your holdings, or if you have any amount you truly can't afford to lose — proper security is always worth it. The cost of our Entry Vault is far less than the cost of losing everything to a preventable mistake.
